Welcome to the Harrogate Orchid Society

Thank you for visiting our website. Perhaps you have just bought your first orchid or have been given one as a present, you may have a few on your windowsill or you may be an experienced grower with a number of years experience.

Whatever your interest in orchids this society will be pleased to welcome you. Why not come to one or two of our meetings – you
do not need to join the Society initially to do this.

We are a friendly group with members covering a wide range of orchid growing. Over recent years there has been a big rise in orchids being grown inside the home. Our membership reflects this so we organise our meetings to suit all types of orchid growers, be they experienced or people who have just been given their first orchid plant as a present or grow the range of orchids available from a garden centre or supermarket.



We are a friendly society who offer a big welcome to new members.

The membership subscripton is £25.00 per year and covers a single or double membership for a couple living at the same address. We meet at two venues: the Royal Horticultural Society Gardens at Harlow Carr, Harrogate in the modern facilites of the Bramall Learning Centre, and at Pool Village Hall, Pool in Wharfedale.

You will be meeting people with an interest, even a passion, for growing orchids.

There will be many different orchids to see.

Advice will be available on how to care for your plants and dealing with pests and diseases.

We have visiting speakers.

Included in your subscription is free use of our extensive library which contains over one hundred titles ranging from books suitable for orchid growers just starting in the hobby and others who specialise in one or two genera.

The Society also attends and exhibits at about eight orchid shows a year. At the shows there is an opportunity to buy orchid plants, potting composts etc.
