Enjoy our monthly meetings.

We are a friendly society who offer a big welcome to new members.

The membership subscripton is £18.00 per year and covers a single or double membership for a couple living at the same address. We meet ten times a year at the Royal Horticultural Society gardens at Harlow Carr Harrogate in the modern facilites of the Bramall Learning Centre the remainder of the meetings are held Beckwithshaw Village Hall. One meeting consists of a field trip to see orchids growing in the wild.There is no meeting in December and we hold our  annual lunch in January.

The next meeting will be on the 25th February 2018                  which is our annual show to be held at a new venue The Pavilions Harrogate situated on the Yorkshire Show Ground.

Members are asked to provide plants for the Societies display.

Set up will be Saturday aftrnoon and 7.30-9.00am Sunday morning.

The show is open to the public 10.00am to 4.00pm

Our annual show will be held at the Pavilions in Harrogate at the Great Yorkshire Showground, Harrogate, North Yorkshire, HG2 8QZ to be held on

Sunday 25th February 2018

 opening times 10.00am to 4.00pm

There will be orchid plants for sale, orchid sundries and craft stalls.

Orchids for everyone weekend

Organised by The Harrogate Orchid Society

in conjunction with the RHS Harlow Carr Garden;


Due to the tremendous success of the 2017 weekend

this event is being held on the 4th and 5th August 2018

opening times 10.00am-4.00pm

Once again there will be visiting Orchid Societies and plants for sale

To be held at the Royal Horticultural Gardens, Harlow Carr, Harrogate


A range of beautiful orchids will be displayed at the Royal Horticultural Societys (RHS) most northerly garden over the weekend 4th and 5th August 2018, allowing visitors the chance to see a large range of varieties all under one roof.

RHS Garden Harlow Carr, Harrogate will host the weekend, where members of the Harrogate Orchid Society and visiting societies will be showcasing their prized specimens; and will include varieties not found in garden centres or shops. The Harrogate Orchid Society will also be running a number of potting demonstrations throughout the weekend  and offering expert advice to help beginners get started with growing these elegant plants.


Two orchid traders will be on site offering for sale unusual and exotic orchids.

As well as holding potting demonstrations and experts offering advice, we,ll also be helping with problem, plants, and visitors are welcome to bring along their orchids for inspection and advice.

The Orchid for everone weekend will be held in the Bramall Learning Centre between 10am - 4pm on the 4th & 5th of August 2018. Please check the website at for more details and garden admission prices, or call 0845 612 265.

 Orchid workshop day which will be an all day event to be held in the Sunley Room, Bramall Learning Centre at Harlow Carr Gardens, Harrogate, HG3 1UE.

 10.00am - 4.00 pm

This event is open to the public.

There will be potting demonstrations and plant problem clinic plus lots of cultural advice from Harrogate Orchid Society members.

There will also be an orchid display by members.


In addition there will be two talks:

11am: 'How Orchids are different'


2pm: Discussion on windowcill culture- details to be confirmed.


Society members are asked to support this event and provde plants to mount a display.

'Orchids for Everyone Weekend'

To be held in the Bramall Learning Centre, this is a joint event organised by the Harrogate Orchid Society and The Royal Horticultural Society. There will be talks and potting demontrations throughout the weekend.

This event is also being supported by the North of England Orchid Society and the Darlington and District Orchid Society, who will both be staging orchid displays.

The exhibition will be open to the public from 10.00am until 4.00pm. each day.

Harrogate Orchid Society members will be available each day to give advice on orchid culture.


Members please note there will not be a separate meeting this month.

There will be three free talks during the weekend  open to the public and Society members- details to follow
